Audience and purpose
This third week, I learned chapter 2 which audience and purpose. Possibly the two most important things a writer must consider are audience and purpose. Communication can’t happen without an other and it is useless without a general or specific agenda. For a writer, it just makes good sense to know who are directing work toward and what want work to accomplish. And it’s equally important that reader feels a part of intended audience and that understands what want work to say. In this sense, audience and purpose work in two directions. A writer’s audience will influence his purpose, while purpose will influence which audience the writer chooses to address. As a reader and as a writer, the first time you approach a text it is important to think about purpose and audience. We must always think : Why am I writing this? (purpose) Who am I writing this for? (audience) So what sort of writing will suit this purpose? (form) So what style do I need to...
